This past weekend the Admissions Office hosted one of our monthly Saturday Visit Days. Of course with the usual good timing of life we experienced what I can only call an "ice storm" two days beforehand. Combine that with temperatures that are reasonably warm during the day, but wretchedly cold at night and you have a minor meteorological meltdown.
And yet despite the ice that had melted and refrozen over the roadways (creating a slippery and somewhat dangerous shell), students and their parents still drove several hours to get to campus. I highly admire the tenacity and determination that pushed these families to make the long drive despite the weather conditions. Before departing at the end of the morning, one young woman commented, "College is one of the most important steps ahead of me, and how I will know that I'm choosing the right school if I haven't experienced the campus?!"
Her comment hits the nail on the head! Visiting our campus and experiencing the La Roche community firsthand is the best way to know if it's the right community for you. I realize that in the midst of personal lives, classes and work there lies very little free time in most students' schedules, but a campus visit is a few hours that could entirely change your decision about your college career!
